The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg hosts a variety of events throughout the year. The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg hosts a variety of events throughout the year. Please be sure to check out our events calendar for a more complete list of all of our events!

Mayor's Prayer Breakfast

The YMCA's Mayor's Prayer Breakfast is an event held annually in the Fall, welcoming 900 community, civic and business leaders to a morning of thought provoking prayer and music. The event features several distinguished faith-based leaders, from our community, leading the audience in reflection and prayer for our armed forces, children, families and community. The YMCA Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast was initiated after the terrorist acts of September 11, 2001. The YMCA and City of St. Petersburg came together to provide an opportunity for all community members to gather and reflect on important issues, challenges and commonalities. This unique event provides a venue for the community to share a meal and develop stronger, more unified relationships.

YMCA Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg's Neighbor-to-Neighbor Christmas program provides a traditional Christmas to more than 400 families suffering financial hardship. Families that are sponsored through our program receive a tree with decorations, Christmas dinner, a bible and toys for the children. This is all made possible by donations from local businesses and community members, but also could not be done without the help of volunteers. The program includes two major events, Tree Delivery Day and Toy Box Night. On Tree Delivery Day, volunteers gather to deliver Christmas trees & decorations to the sponsored families. It is a wonderful and rewarding experience to be able to see the look on a recipient's face when the tree is delivered! On Toy Box Night, the YMCA closes early and is turned into Santa's Toyshop! Recipients come, and with the help of our cherished elves (our volunteers), select toys for their children. This night is a wonderful community event.

YMCA Businesses Building A Better Community Luncheon

Business leaders from throughout St. Petersburg attend the YMCA Businesses Building A Better Community Luncheon not only for a great networking opportunity but to also hear a fellow business leader speak on growing a business through outstanding leadership and vision. The luncheon, which is typically held in April, focuses on the important roles that corporate giving and philanthropy play in strengthening communities. Proceeds from the YMCA Businesses Building A Better Community Luncheon will benefit community leaders by funding programs that enrich the lives of children and their families through academic support, cultural arts, health and wellness, and computer literacy.
