Specialty Camps

With our new specialty camp options, your child can expand their horizons even further while exploring their favorite hobbies.

Full Day Specialty Camps provide wrap-around care at one of our five Day Camp locations to a create full day Y camp experience. View the hours for each home branch location below and download the registration packet to get started.

Half Day Specialty Camps are only held during the times specified and do not include wrap-around care. Transportation is not provided for Half Day Camps.

Cooking Camp, Full Day

Ages 5 - 8: June 25 - 29
Ages 9 - 12:
June 11 - 15 and July 16 - 20
Weekly Cost: Members $175; Non-Members $225
Held at YMCA at Lealman Community Campus & Speer Y Teaching Kitchen

Hands-on camp teaching the proper use of cooking utensils, techniques, nutritional values and kitchen safety. We’ll prepare delicious meals following recipes to taste and share throughout the week.

Fishing Camp, Full Day

Ages 8 - 12: July 23 - August 3
Weekly Cost: Members $215; Non-Members $265
Held at YMCA at Lealman Community Campus

Fundamentals of fishing including rigging of rods and knot tying, angling skills, cast netting and of course fishing. Partnering with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission. Daily field trips to Redington Long Pier, R.O.C. Park fishing pier, Fort Desoto and others.

Florida Outdoor Adventure Camp, Full Day

Ages 8 - 12: June 4 - 8 and July 9 - 13
Weekly Cost: Members $215; Non-Members $265
Held at YMCA at Lealman Community Campus

Designed for older campers to gain experience in Florida activities. Weather permitting, we’ll fish, skim board, paddle board, join a dolphin eco tour and other adventures. Partnering with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conversation Commission.

Girl Power Camp, Full Day

Ages 5 - 12: June 18 - 22 and July 30 - August 3
Weekly Cost: Members $175; Non-Members $225
Held at YMCA at Lealman Community Campus

A week-long adventure that includes physical activity, creative expression and self-discovery that empowers girls with skills, language and self confidence to develop a lasting positive image about women. Activities on social and character development, yoga and Zumba, team-building and guest speakers. Plus, two field trips are planned.

Science/CSI Camp, Full Day

Does science come to mind when you think about summer camp? We hope so! Summer science camp offers students exciting and innovative ways to get hands-on with science experiments, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts.

Sailing Camp, Full Day or Half Day

Ages 5 - 12: June 11 - 15, June 25 - 29 and July 30 - August 3
Full Day Weekly Cost: Members $215; Non-Members $265
Half Day Weekly Cost: Members $175; Non-Members $225 (1PM - 4:30PM only)
Held at Childs Park Y

St. Petersburg Yacht Club’s summer sailing classes are designed to teach sailing and racing using the 420’s keel boats, opti’s and paddle boards. Students will get hands-on experience rigging, steering and maneuvering. Rainy or windy days: sailing pop quiz, games and tying sailing knots.

 

Dance & Theatre Camps

The Y Dance Academy is a national award-winning program, where students follow the American Ballet Theater curriculum. For most of our dance camps, campers can have much, or very little, performance experience. All genders are encouraged to participate.

Dancers will need to come in dance leotard, tights and appropriate dance shoes. A water bottle and light snack should be brought to camp each day. Dancers will bring home additional information about camp on the first day, including their performance on the last day of camp.

All Dance & Theatre Camps are held at Jim & Heather Gills Y. Transportation is not provided. Before-and-Aftercare is not included.

American Girl Camp, Half Day

Ages 8 - 17: July 9 - 13
Weekly Cost: Members $100; Non-Members $130 (9AM - Noon only)

Bring your American Girl Doll or any favorite doll and celebrate dance through the decades. Dancers will learn a variety of dances, create crafts for themselves and their dolls, and perform on the last day of camp.

Ballet Intensive Camp, Half Day

Frozen In June Camp, Half Day

Ages 3 - 7: June 11 - 15

Little dancers will love dancing to the story of Frozen! Dancers will create crafts and perform on the last day!

Musical Theatre Camp, Half Day

Ages 6 - 17: July 16 - 20

Campers will perform "Elf" by learning to sing, act, and dance as well as create backdrops and props for their performance on the last day.

Prince & Princess Camp, Half Day

Little dancers will love this camp themed around beloved fairy tales! Crafts and dances will be taught each day with a mini-performance on the last day.

Tap Intensive Camp, Half Day

Tumbling Camp, Half Day

Learn all the basics of tumbling and floor work from cartwheels to walkovers!

Basketball Camp, Full Day

Focusing on the fundamentals, team work, skill building drills and game play by highly trained, qualified instructors. Bring a swimsuit for free swimming, which is included each day!

Soccer Camp, Full Day

Fundamentals, team work, skill building drills, game play and two field trips including a foot golf course (golf course using soccer skills).

Volleyball Camp, Half Day

Ages 9 - 14: June 25 - 29

Focusing on fundamentals, team work, skill building drills and game play. Instructed by highly trained, qualified instructors.

Transportation Information

Transportation from Day Camp site to Specialty Camp site may be provided. This service is only available for Specialty Camps held at Childs Park Y and YMCA at Lealman Community Campus. A minimum of 3 campers need to be registered in order for transportation to be provided. If available, transportation will leave promptly at 8:00AM. If transportation is not provided, you may drop off/pick up at the Specialty Camp site or elect to change enrollment to Day Camp only. Please contact the camp location for more information and to verify availability.
