Special Events Volunteer

Complete our special event volunteer application (one per person) at the bottom of this page for special events. If groups prefer, one individual can complete the application on behalf of the group as long as the roster of group members is emailed to Christina Edgeworth prior to the event. Be sure to indicate on your application which event you are interested in.

 

Healthy Kids Day

YMCA Healthy Kids Day is an annual event held in late April at the Jim & Heather Gills and Bardmoor YMCAs. Volunteers are needed for registration, chaperones for various areas of the event. Most activities are held outside on our fields.

YMCA Spelling Bee

Each July, the YMCA hosts a Spelling Bee for grades K-6. Approximately 10 volunteers are needed to assist with check-in, awards, refreshments, etc.

Spin-A-Rama

Designed to raise funds for the YMCA Annual Campaign and the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Program, volunteers for this event ride on teams or work the event. Approximately 10 volunteers are needed to man the event table, check in riders, update the dry-erase board, and refill the food and drink table.

Boo Bash

Every October, volunteers are needed check in attendees, serve refreshments and hand out candy. At the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA, drive your “tricked out” vehicle and hand out candy from your trunk (Trunk-or-Treat)! Prizes are awarded for the best-dressed vehicles!

YMCA Mayor's Prayer Breakfast

Hosted annually in the fall at the Coliseum , volunteers for this event help set up tables, assemble flyers and arrange centerpieces to make this a memorable experience for all.

Breakfast with Santa

Volunteers are needed each December as pancake flippers, servers, greeters, registration and clean up.

YMCA Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program

Sign up early to become a volunteer for this joyous event. Program events begin in early December, and approximately 150 - 200 volunteers are needed each year. Events include: Bagging (bagging tree stands, ornaments, etc.); Tree Delivery (delivering live trees to homes); Toy Box collections; and Toy Box Evening (various tasks associated with families choosing gifts for their children). *For this event, you'll need to submit both the volunteer application and an event-specific registration.
