Shiloh Capone named Director of Literacy
The YMCA Of Greater St. Petersburg is proud to announce the appointment of Shiloh Capone as Director of Literacy. In this role, she will build on the success of the YMCA READS program, expanding literacy initiatives throughout the association.
Under her leadership, enrollment in the YMCA READS program increased by 57% percent in the last year, while 76% of participants met or exceeded grade-level reading after six months in the program. We are proud of her achievements and look forward to her continued dedication and success in her new role.
Shiloh is a member of the Grade Level Reading Work Group Leaders with Juvenile Welfare Board, GLR Lectio Leadership Team, co-chair of the Volunteer Subcommittee with the LWVSPA’s Education Advocacy Committee, and has been recognized by PCSB’s Executive Internship Program for a Commitment to Excellence.
Shiloh will also work with Director of Early Learning Dorothy Thomas to enhance literacy initiatives in our Preschool Academies through the integration of literacy in the early stages of Youth Development to help provide optimum conditions for children’s learning and development and increase their school readiness.
