YMCA Leaders Club

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is excited to introduce a brand new program for middle and high school students. YMCA Leaders Club provides teens in grades 6 - 12 with opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, social development, physical fitness and service to others.

By participating in YMCA Leaders, students can earn volunteer hours, become involved with the community, learn valuable life and professional skills, build relationships, and learn what it truly means to be a leader.

Program Expectations

Leaders shall strive to show that Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are cornerstones of our actions. The program’s objectives are to:

  • Encourage a lifelong spirit of service and volunteerism
  • Foster personal growth and character development
  • Enhance leadership skill development
  • Help teens form positive relationships in a social club setting

The club provides opportunities for the development of the spirit, mind and body. Leaders are held to a very high standard and should actively participate in:

  • Planning and executing YMCA events
  • Fundraising efforts
  • Physical fitness and education
  • Communication
  • Teaching and mentor relationships
  • Leadership and character development
  • Relationship building
  • YMCA philosophy and values
  • Volunteer Service (In the Y and community)
  • Weekly Meetings
  • Optional State-wide assemblies (Two yearly Rallies)
  • Optional Summer assembly (in June)

All participants in the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg Leaders Club must pay $50 annual dues to register and to be eligible to attend events. Attending major events is encouraged, but not required. The cost of participating will vary based on what events are attended.

Fundraising opportunities will be available throughout the year, and are intended to be largely youth-planned, youth-driven. Any parent/guardians interested in assisting with booster activities should contact the Program Director.

Continually, financial aid and scholarships are available. The Y strives to make programming available to all. Contact the Program Director to discuss details and apply.
