The Middle School Academies

YMCA The Middle School Academies Program

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg provides FREE, innovative before-and-afterschool programming for students in 6th through 8th grade at three local middle schools through The Middle School Academies (TMSA) program, made possible by Juvenile Welfare Board.

By incorporating activities and resources that engage students in academic growth and achievement, the program aims to help them to foster a love for learning while providing a support system and serving as a motivator. Students participate in club-based programs in the mornings and academic support in the afternoons. The YMCA strives to cultivate a safe, welcoming environment where students can feel a sense of belonging and achievement as they grow in their commitment to learning, positive relationships and as engaged, empowered individuals.

How to Register

Online registration for the 2025-2026 school year will take place Monday, June 16 - Sunday, July 20, 2025. This program is open to students enrolled at the host school only.

After July 20, online registration will close and a wait list will be opened. Once school begins, the wait list will be processed and handled on a first-come, first-served basis to fill any remaining space in the program. Additional forms will be required and therefore there may be a delay on when your child can begin attending, so we highly encourage parents to enroll by the July 20 deadline.

This year, all registration will take place online. There is a three-step process:

1

Register online using the link below.

For each school-age program, an orange “Online Registration” button will lead directly into the online registration portal. There, you’ll be required to log in or create an account.

2

Sign your forms and agreements digitally.

Once you complete your registration, you will receive an email from DocuSign with paperless forms to e-sign. This new process is faster, more streamlined, and better for the environment!

3

One last form must be signed in-person and notarized

This form, required by Pinellas County Licensing Board, will be completed digitally alongside the other forms, but will need to be signed and notarized in-person. To make this as quick and easy as possible for you, we’ll print the form and have a notary on-site during designated office hours (TBD).
