The YMCA has long served as America's beloved swimming instructor. Whether learning how to swim or taking water exercise classes, members are in safe hands with our certified swimming instructors and lifeguards. The year-round aquatic programs are about more than just techniques and skills; they are about building friendships, developing self-esteem and creating positive experiences that last a lifetime. Our olympic-size swimming pool is located at our Jim & Heather Gills Y and features a water slide, hot tub, play area, sauna, and entry lanes.

Water Safety Program
As a leader in drowning prevention, the YMCAs of Tampa Bay have teamed up with the Tampa Bay Rays to remind you to be water smart from the start. The Y offers a variety of swim safety programs for both children and adults. This summer, make the Y your home base for water safety. Learn more
Our trained coaches work to improve swimmers' skill level, endurance, and promote a healthy lifestyle. Teams are organized by skill levels, and workouts include endurance, speed, and drill techniques. Programs are held on a monthly basis and designed for youth ages 8 – 18. Learn more
The Y offers a vast array of water group exercise programs designed for individuals of all ages. Classes are held in both shallow and deep water and all classes are led by our YMCA-certified water fitness instructors. Our Water Fitness classes include:

Become a Lifeguard
Our American Red Cross Lifeguarding training course provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid valid for two years. Learn more
