YMCA Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program

YMCA Neighbor-to-Neighbor Christmas program

About the Program

This signature program provides nearly 400 underserved families and more than 800 children with the joys of a traditional Christmas. Families receive a live tree, ornaments, holiday dinner, books and toys - while also strengthening and supporting them with additional complimentary programs and services throughout the year:

  • Each child receives a free full season of youth sports aquatics or dance.
  • Parents receive free participation in healthy living and financial literacy workshops
  • Free guest passes to all YMCA family fun events

Please join hundreds of donors, volunteers and staff to help provide the magic and nostalgia of the Christmas season to the children of our community. Every dollar contributed directly benefits the children and families.

This annual program features three events:

YMCA Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program

Bagging Day

Volunteers and staff convene to put together gift bags for each family. Bags usually contain tree-trimming items like ornaments, a stand and lights, and wrapping supplies like gift wrap and tape.

YMCA Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program

Tree Delivery Day

More than 100 volunteers join YMCA staff members to pick up live Christmas trees from Anderson Lumber and deliver them directly to the families' doorsteps. Along with the tree, families receive all the necessary tree-trimming items that were prepared during the Bagging Day event.

YMCA Neighbor to Neighbor Christmas Program

Toy Box Evening

Participating families visit the Y to collect free toys, books, games, bikes, and a Publix gift card. Free childcare is offered for so that parents may select toys in private to ensure Christmas morning is full of surprises.
