The Middle School Academies

YMCA The Middle School Academies Program

The YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg provides FREE, innovative before-and-afterschool programming for students in 6th through 8th grade at three local middle schools through The Middle School Academies (TMSA) program, made possible by Juvenile Welfare Board.

By incorporating activities and resources that engage students in academic growth and achievement, the program aims to help them to foster a love for learning while providing a support system and serving as a motivator. Students participate in club-based programs in the mornings and academic support in the afternoons. The YMCA strives to cultivate a safe, welcoming environment where students can feel a sense of belonging and achievement as they grow in their commitment to learning, positive relationships and as engaged, empowered individuals.

2026-2027 Registration Dates

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year will open May 1, 2026.

After July 26, online registration will close and a wait list will be opened. Once school begins, the wait list will be processed and handled on a first-come, first-served basis to fill any remaining space in the program. Additional forms will be required and therefore there may be a delay on when your child can begin attending, so we highly encourage parents to enroll by the July 26 deadline.

How to Register

Registration is completed through a three‑step process that includes both online and in‑person requirements. These steps are completed at different times and cannot be done all at once. Please see below for a breakdown of each step.

This year, all registration is online. There is a three-step process:

1

Register online using the orange button below.

Using the YMCA's online registration portal, you'll be required to log in or create an account.

2

Sign your forms and agreements digitally.

Once you complete your registration, you will receive an email from DocuSign with paperless forms to e-sign (this is not automatic following Step 1).

3

One last form must be signed in-person and notarized

This form, required by Pinellas County Licensing Board, will be completed digitally alongside the other forms, but will need to be signed and notarized in-person. To make this as quick and easy as possible for you, we'll print the form and have a notary on-site during designated office hours, which will be communicated to you by your site director.

If registration has closed for your school site, we encourage you to complete Step 1 anyway to secure your place on the waitlist. As openings become available, families will be contacted in the order in which registrations are received. At that time, families will be asked to complete Steps 2 and 3.

Financial assistance is offered. ELC Families, an additional fee may be required. Please contact us for more information about these programs.
