YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg Names Eric Ventura as Executive Director of Speer YMCA

YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is pleased to name Eric Ventura as Executive Director of Speer YMCA, effective August 4, 2026. 

As Executive Director, Ventura will provide leadership for the Speer YMCA, overseeing operations, programs, member experience, community engagement and team development. He will work alongside staff, volunteers, members and community partners to build upon the branch's strong foundation and identify new opportunities to expand its impact throughout the community.

A born-and-raised St. Petersburg native, Ventura brings more than 20 years of experience in recreation, program development, community engagement and organizational leadership to the role. Throughout his career, he has worked across a broad range of YMCA programs and operations, including membership, youth and family programming, sports, wellness, aquatics, camps and community partnerships. His experience has focused on developing innovative programs, strengthening member experiences, building high-performing teams and creating opportunities for the YMCA to better serve its community.

Ventura is passionate about making the Speer YMCA a place where everyone feels welcomed, valued, connected and inspired. His leadership philosophy is grounded in his 3 T's: Trust, Transparency and Teamwork. He believes the strongest organizations are built when people trust one another, communicate openly and work together toward a shared vision.

Ventura's leadership will support the Speer YMCA's continued growth as a resource for health, connection and community. With deep roots in St. Petersburg and a strong understanding of the YMCA's role in bringing people together, he is committed to strengthening relationships and creating meaningful opportunities for individuals and families to thrive.

Outside of the YMCA, Ventura is a passionate sports fan who enjoys cheering on his favorite teams, especially Florida State University and the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoys spending time with his family and staying active in the community he has called home his entire life.
