Healthy Kids Day

A fun day of games, sports, food, and more!

Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out, and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain more weight and fall behind in school.

On Saturday, April 29th, the Y will celebrate Healthy Kids Day, our national initiative with more than 1,300 Ys holding free community events for the entire family. Healthy Kids Day encourages kids and families to stay active, connected and healthy.

The Y is all about building a better us. The more support, guidance, and opportunities we give kids, the further they will reach. The further they reach, the more they can achieve — and together, we build a better us. That's why we provide kids a healthy, caring environment of fun, learning, and belonging to help them reach their fullest potential.

On Healthy Kids Day, the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA will host a free, youth-focused triathlon where kids ages 4-14 can run, bike and swim their way toward a new level of empowerment and accomplishment. Participants can choose to do the full triathlon or just one event, and every child will receive a T-shirt and a medal.
