Update: November 13
Fitness Floor
On Wednesday, November 19, the Fitness Floor will close and remain closed through the middle of December to accommodate major facility upgrades. These include:
During this time the pool, group exercise classes, dance classes, the climbing wall and the gymnasium will remain open for members to use. Members are also welcome and encouraged to use either of our other Wellness Centers – Bardmoor YMCA and Speer YMCA. Check out their web pages to learn more about the amenities and classes available.
Parking
Beginning Saturday, November 15, the newly constructed, permanent Northwest Parking Lot will open. This lot can be accessed from 34th St. South (US Highway 19) from the west and 1st Ave. South from the North (see the blue stars on the map). At the same time, the South Parking Lot will close for reconstruction, and the North Parking Lot will close permanently.
Facility Entrance
Also on Saturday, November 15, the entrance to the YMCA facility will move temporarily to the west side of the building through the hallway between the pool and the multifunction rooms (see the orange triangle on the map). There will be no entrance through the main doors under the awning, as construction takes place to improve the entrance and the façade. The temporary entrance through the back of the main hallway will also close.

Stick With Us!
We understand the inconvenience and the interruptions to your fitness routine this construction causes, and we thank you for your patience and flexibility. We are looking forward to celebrating our reopening with state-of-the-art Matrix and True fitness equipment, and a clean and enhanced facility for our members to use.

UPDATE: October 30, 2025
Pool and Hot Tub are now open, sauna remains closed.
The Jim & Heather Gills YMCA pool will reopen with regular hours of operation on Friday, October 31 at 5AM following renovations and facility enhancements. Recent improvements include new pool pumps, a full drain and acid wash of the pool and deck, repairs to the hot tub and slide, and fresh paint throughout the area.
New pool lighting will be installed soon, and the sauna will remain closed as further repairs continue.
UPDATE: October 28, 2025
Facility is open, but AC is down.
Due to an unexpected equipment failure, our AC will be down for approximately 3-6 days while we await replacement parts and repair. At this time, no closures are expected. We are closely monitoring the indoor temperature and have brought in fans. We hope that the incoming cold front will also aid in keeping the facility cool. Please check our mobile app and website for the most up to date information. We appreciate your patience.
UPDATE: October 16, 2025
Pool Reopening Delayed
While the construction team has been working diligently to complete the upgrades, the project is taking longer than expected, and the pool will remain closed for now.
We understand how inconvenient this is for our members, and we sincerely appreciate your patience. Please know that we're working hard to ensure that when the pool reopens, it will offer a more enjoyable aquatics experience for everyone.
In the meantime, members are welcome to continue using the Speer YMCA pool and aquatics classes, which remain open and available to all Jim & Heather Gills YMCA members. View the schedule.
UPDATE: September 29, 2025

We understand these changes present challenges to our Members, and we thank you for your support and patience while we continue our work to make much-needed upgrades to your YMCA.
